Delight Is Creeping In
It was delightful helping my middle daughter with her Challenge A Latin today. It’s a refreshing contrast to all the struggling to stay afloat in Challenge 4 translating the Vulgate with her big sister who hates translating with me now, because I’m too slow. When I was going through A the first time with her, I felt like I’d never get it, but I kept going. And my older daughter excelled in spite of me. I also read everything I could get my hands on about the value of Latin to keep us going. So I can imagine that if I just keep going on from here, by the time my youngest gets to this point in the journey, the Vulgate may also be easy and even fun. “Delight creeps in on the mere drudgery… Poetry replaces grammar, gospel replaces law, as gradually as the tide lifts a grounded ship.” -CS Lewis
