September 1 will live in infamy. It was not just Norah's first day of second grade. It was also the day she realized American Girls were not just books, but also "dolls, clothes, furniture and other accessories." She read the ad to me herself, the ad that I forgot to tear out of the back of one of her new Julie books. Damn it.
