I had plans to take the kids to the splash pool with friends, but when my dad went back into the hospital and was scheduled to have surgery today, I canceled my plans for the pool so I could stay by the phone (and pray.) I can't afford to make another trip at the moment, so staying by the phone is the next best thing I can do.
But, when my dad's surgery was postponed, my friends Joanna and Kim surprised me by coming by with their kids, asking us to go anyway. Joanna gave me a big hug and said, "I know what it's like to have sick daddy and be separated by a thousand miles."
It was a beautiful thing they did, encouraging me and making sure I was out of my misery for a little while. The girls and I had a great time and I took some photos to post for my dad to see while he is at the hospital waiting to have surgery... a thousand miles away.
