I'd like pass on some Bible verses that I read the other day. They might seem plain at first glance, but they taught me something really profound about God. They read as follow,

"When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, 'If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.' So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Thus the Israelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle." Exodus 13:17-18

The words that really stood out to me were the last few... Thus the Isaelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle. Thus the Israelites... Because they didn't know where they were going and they weren't comfortable with where they were and because they felt vulnerable, they depended on God, were alert to His presence and were ready for anything.

As far as I can tell God is the leading me straight away from where He said he'd take me just a few weeks ago. I can't go into any detail about this because it's sacred to me, but I feel really vulnerable and confused by what God is doing right now. It makes no sense to me and I think I must feel something like His people must have felt as they left the road and followed the cloud into the wilderness.

But, these verses really encouraged me and I believe God lead me to them so I'd understand what He was doing in my life or rather, so that I wouldn't be afraid to trust Him. For whatever reason, God's is leading me down a less obvious path right now. And, I'll bet you anything it's so that, like the Israelites, I will be looking to Him for guidance and so I'll be prepared for anything, spiritually speaking.

God ways are higher than our ways. He told Abraham that Issac would grow to become a great nation then he asked him to kill Issac. He told His people they were destined to live in Canaan then took them straight into the desert...

So, as important as it is that we arrive where God said He'd take us, it's even more important that we follow Him and that we stay full of faith in Him along the way. He knows us, He knows where He is going and we can trust Him.
